Proudly presenting: Calvendo’s first ever “Made in the UK” wall calendar edition

A couple of months ago, we asked our self-publishers to submit calendars under the headline “Made in the UK” – with no further restrictions: Traditions, sights, quirks, anything was possible and our users had the freedom to interpret the headline freely and let their creative juices flow. Now and in time for Christmas (gift ideas!), we have a lovely collection of wall calendars in our first ever “Made in the UK” edition, featuring anything from magical woodlands, to Sottish, Welsh and English landscapes, by way of vintage cars, steam trains and much more. We’ve got photography, digital paintings and even calligraphy! It’s eclectic, quirky and quite beautiful – just like the UK.

A huge thank you to all our authors who submitted their work for “Made in the UK”!

And here they are – proudly presenting:

How to enlarge your portfolio

You might not have seen it in our system yet so that’s why we’re telling you know: You can easily turn your existing calendars into planners by using specific layouts provided in the Calvendo online editing tool. Planners (called “organizers” in the Calvendo system) are very popular calendar products and you probably have one yourself at home hanging on your wall to pencil in birthdays or all the important dates that must not be forgotten in a family.

Here’s how you can easily turn an already published calendar into a second product for sale:

Go to your account and ‘Projects approved by Calvendo’, click on the plus sign on the right in order to copy a published project, change the calendar grid from a normal to an organizer one, adapt the layout and then submit this new project to our jury. You’ll find all the different organizer layouts available in the online editor: Just click on ‘Calendar Grids’ on the right, a window will open, scroll down and click on ‘Organizer’ in order to see all the options. If you’re working with a landscape format, you can include one column, for the portrait format, you can create birthday calendars, organizers and family calendars with up to five columns.

You don’t need to change the pictures of the existing wall calendar that you’ve copied and can also use them in the same order. Likewise, you don’t need to come up with a new title and cover because a planner is a different product to a ‘normal’ calendar and has another use for the buyer.

However, it is important that the retail platforms and their customers can clearly distinguish the two products and see why they’re different. We’re therefore providing a special ‘button’ (logo) that you’ll have to include on the cover of your new organizer. You can downoad these buttons in different colours and choose the one that best matches your projects. Just click on the options available and save them on your computer – red, black and white.

Answering your questions: Amazon ‘on stock’

We often get asked why some Calvendo products are listed by Amazon as ‘on stock’ and others not. Based on the Calvendo digital print-on-demand set-up, the latter will then have  a longer delivery time because they are only produced upon customer order. Admittedly, the ins and outs of this gargantuan online retailer are pretty much unfathomable, however, there’s a bit of background we can give you about the ‘on stock’ issue:

First of all, if Amazon (or other online platforms, for that matter) pre-order Calvendo products and stock calendar copies is solely at their discretion. Calvendo can’t influence this. Retailers base this decision on their market assessment and how customer demand develops.

So, if you want your calendar to be put on stock, it is important that new releases swiftly achieve initial sales. Certain online mechanism will then take effect so that visibility and availability in online catalogs will be increased and improved for further customers. If customer interest in your product persists, it will become even more visible online.

Successful products are then in a kind of ‘upwards spiral’ which is on Amazon, for example, reflected in a product’s ‘Bestsellers Rank’. And sometimes it’s little things that you yourself (or friends and family) can do to move things in the right directions, such as repeated clicks on your listed product on Amazon. ‘The machine’ will register this interest and sent the right signals onwards then …
